Galveston Island
offers many beach-going options. Inside the city of Galveston, the
seawall and adjacent sand strip is popular among visitors, as are Stewart Beach and East Beach. Further down the island, Galveston State Park and West Beach are favorite sandy hangouts. After a day of surf, sand
and sun, head to the Strand to shop or visit one of Galveston’s many
excellent eateries.
East Beach, located at 1923 Boddeker Drive, is the coolest and biggest beach in Texas. Famous for its great beach parties, East Beach has major outdoor concerts, special events, promotions, bikini contests, live bands, and other activities.
Galveston Island State Park, at 14901 FM 3005, is on the west end of Galveston Island and features beachside and bayside camping. The Beachside Day Use Area has tables, grills, and rinse off showers.
Palm Beach at Moody Gardens offers soft white sand and crystal clear fresh water lagoons and waterfalls surrounded by lush, exotic landscaping.
Sand Castle Beach Pocket Park 2, located at 11745 San Luis Pass Rd, includes a public beach pavilion, an educational wetlands preserve, beach access points, and public and private parking.
Sea Shell Beach Pocket park 3, located at 11 Mile Rd on San Luis Rd offers a beach pavilion, showers, a snack bar, beach chair rentals, picnic tables, and wheelchair accessibility.
Stewart Beach, at the east end of the Seawall, is one of Galveston's premier family beach parks, sponsoring family oriented events, such as volleyball tournaments and sandcastle competitions.
